Catskills Fire Tower Challenge

Catskills Fire Tower Challenge 2024 Hey everyone, One of my favorite parts of hiking is the sense of community around it. The people I've met hiking are still people I speak to today, and I've had so many positive experiences hiking in groups or with friends. A benefit of having that community is being introduced to new opportunities and challenges to take on. As an east coast hiker, I'm also lucky enough to have numerous options for day trails or even multi-day hikes. A friend recently let me know about a full-year event called the Catskills Fire Tower Challenge. The challenge involves visiting the fire towers atop 6 peaks in the Catskill Mountains in New York. I've already hiked a couple trails on these mountains, but never climbed one of the towers, so it'll be an awesome experience. I wanted to share this challenge because I believe it's a great opportunity to push your limits and aim for something you may not normally strive for. It is certainly an achievem...

3 Things To Know About Hiking Mount Washington

3 Things To Know About Hiking Mount Washington Hey everyone! One of the biggest reasons I began this blog was to post about this topic. My hike up Mount Washington was one of my favorites. Not only because it's the highest peak in the northeastern United States and my largest elevation gain yet, but because it's where I learned the most about hiking in general. I went up with one of my best friends who is more experienced with planning an all-day hike like Mount Washington. Think about the length of the day you're hiking We went on our hike in August, and this was incredibly beneficial for a hike like Washington. We were up and down in about ten hours (which admittedly factors in a lot of slower pacing and time spent resting at the top thanks to yours truly), and while we knew it would be long, we used up almo...

My First Post - Hello!

Image
My First Post - Hello! Hey there, For my first post, I want to let you know about why I'm starting this blog and where I plan on going from here! Growing up, I never felt better than when I was out with family and friends hiking or camping. In recent years, having graduated college and been more focused on my career, I've noticed myself losing touch with that sense of adventure I used to have. I want to push myself to keep the outdoors in my life, and doing so while growing a community that shares that same interest. This blog is not just for me, but for others who want to have an extra incentive to get back outside and a group to share that with. I'll mainly be posting about the hikes and camping trips I go on, as well as my experiences from previous hikes I've done. If that sounds interesting to you, check back in on future posts and become part of the group! See you out there!
